Melvin Griffin

Melvin L. "Skin" Griffin, 70, of Matoaca, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born December 20, 1942 to the late Luther and Helen Griffin and was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Jack Griffin and sister, Helen Leeson. Mr. Griffin was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois C. Griffin; children; Kim Griffin Webster and husband Kevin of Chesterfield, Leann Griffin Carter and Scott of Chesterfield, and Eric Griffin and wife Amanda of Henrico; grandchildren, Lindsey Webster, Kasey Webster, Matthew Carter, Jacob Carter, and Emma Rose Griffin; siblings, Ann Hart of Dinwiddie, George Griffin of Arizona, and Edward Lynn Griffin of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 27, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday December 26, 2012 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
