Melvin Hoke Sr.

Melvin Ray Hoke Sr., 79, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018. Melvin is survived by his wife Barbara "Big Girl" Hoke; son Melvin Ray Hoke, Jr.; three step-children; five step-grandchildren, whom referred to Melvin as "El Handsomeo"; one great-grandchild; one brother Donald Weatherford; and many other loving relatives and special friends. Melvin retired from DuPont and owned Mechanical Heating and Cooling. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center for the 15 years of special care given to Melvin. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation at fisherhouse.org.
