Melvin Johnson

Melvin James Johnson, 86, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Chippenham Medical Center. He was the son of the late Fletcher and Pearl Jefferson Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a United States Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post # 2 in Petersburg. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Johnson; children, Mark Johnson and wife, Kara of Chesterfield, Steve Johnson of Texas, Kim Merriwether, Susan Tapscott and husband, Tommy of Scottsville, and Bill Morgan and wife, Cathy of Kents Store; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Huff of Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
