Merle Brant Sr.

Merle Irvin Brant Sr., SFC. USA (Ret) 79, of Hopewell, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Chippenham Medical Center. He was the son of the late Earl and Bernice Beaty Brant, and was preceded in death by his wife Blanche M. Brant. He was a retired Sergeant First Class with the United States Army and a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Conflicts. He is survived by a son, Merle I. Brant Jr. of Georgia; two daughters, Diane M Teal of Arkansas and Connie F. Able of Disputanta; four grandchildren, Tabatha, Chance, Samuel, and Chey Anne; one brother, Robert Earl Brant of Lake Tahoe, California; sister, Charlotte Treehorne of Lake Tahoe, California. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Park Chester Virginia, with a procession to leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
