Michael Lynne Birchett, 74, of Chester Virginia, and formerly of Hopewell Virginia, passed away suddenly in his home on Monday March 29, 2021. Born on May 4, 1946 in North Carolina and graduated from Hopewell High school in 1966. He was the only child of late Carlton Talmadge and Louise Mitchell Birchett. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Mattie Farmer Birchett, who he was married to for almost 42 years. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Diamond.
He retired from Hercules (Aqualon) where he worked for over 30 years. After his retirement he held various jobs working security positions. His later years were spent spending time with his family and most of all adoring his grandchildren and great granddaughter. Mike was an avid Tom Brady fan to put it mildly. Anyone who knew him would immediately know his passion for his family and the Patriots and recently the Buccaneers. His true love was watching all of his grandsons play sports and keeping up with every single thing in their lives. He rarely missed an event and was their biggest fan. He never met a stranger and always had a joyful smile. Mike spent most of his life working hard to provide for his family and helping care for Mattie when she became ill. He had a genuine heart that impacted everyone he met.
Mike is survived by his son, Michael Birchett II and wife Tanya. Children Brandon, Kyle and Kolby. Daughter Michelle Tirpak and husband Adam. Children AJ, Zach and Mason. Son Todd Bailey and wife Cheri. Great granddaughter Bailey Diamond. Bonus grandchildren Payton, Destiny, Brittany, Tripp, Logan, Emmett and Sawyer. Numerous nieces, nephews, his caring previous wife Ruth and endless friends and loved ones who helped make his life complete.
