Michael L. Cheatham, 64, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home. He was a native of Colonial Heights, and the son of the late Willie H. Cheatham and Jessie W. Cheatham, and was preceded in death by his brother, Robert W. Cheatham. Mike was a retired employee of Sunbelt Rentals, and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, sports and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda G. Cheatham; a son, Christopher L. Cheatham and wife, Rebecca of Powhatan; daughters, Lindsey G. Poore and husband, James of Amelia, and Lauren B. Cheatham and Damian Thomas of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Colby Michael, Andrew, Isaiah, Willie, Avery Gail, and Luke; a brother, Terry L. Cheatham and wife, Linda M.; mother- and father-in-law, Ellis and Colleen Palmore; and numerous extended family members. He was a man who loved the Lord, life, and his family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Pastor Thomas Alvis officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Powhatan Community Cemetery, Powhatan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad Inc., P.O.
