Michael Lawrence Elmore

Michael Lawrence Elmore, 61, of Colonial Heights passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025. Born February 13, 1964, he was the son of the late Dolores and Collin Eldred Elmore, Sr., and was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Clarke; and brother, Collin Eldred Elmore, Jr.

For over 30 years, Mike oversaw road construction for Stantec, formerly Greenhorne and O’Mara, contributing to the development and infrastructure of many communities.

Mike was a simple man and he found joy in the little things. He loved skateboarding, even into his later years, and had a laid-back spirit that never really went away. He also had a unique hobby in collecting just about anything. Coins, tools, trinkets—you name it. He was truly a collector of collections.

He had a knack for fixing things too, especially watches, flashlights, and other small gadgets. Taking something apart and putting it back together gave him a kind of peace. If it was broken, Mike could probably fix it—and if he couldn’t, he’d try anyway.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Christine Elmore; four children, Michael Ian Elmore and wife, Lea, Jamie Lee Elmore, Jonathan Graber, Samuel Clarke; grandson, Kaiser Graber; brother, Stephen Mark Elmore and wife, Karen; sister, Katherine Gail Stilson and husband, Scott; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Navigators, P.O.
