Michael Lang

It is with great sadness to share that Michael “Mike” Vincent Lang, 59, of North Dinwiddie, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 while surrounded by loved ones.  Mike was born on May 31, 1962, in Petersburg, Virginia to Barbara Reekes Lang and the late Gordon William Lang.  Mike was baptized at an early age and thoroughly enjoyed the Victory Hour services hosted by Grove Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.   Mike’s favorite place to spend his time was outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the yard, and scrapping metal.  You could not find a harder worker.  When Mike wasn’t outside, you would find him watching anything in the world of racing and of course, sports.  He has been a lifelong, diehard fan of the Washington Redskins and had the shirts and hats to prove it.  Mike will be remembered most for his caring spirit, willingness to lend a helping hand, and his big heart for both people and animals.  Mike’s love for God, his family, and his friends ran very deep.  He is loved by so many and will be truly missed.  Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Lang, and brother-in-law, Thomas Shipp.  Mike is survived by his mother, Barbara Lang; sister, Sharon Shipp; brother, Kenneth Lang Sr. (Carrie); sister, Darlene Lang Lowder; sister, Shelby Harrison (Timmy); daughter-like niece, Britney Seay (Quan); son-like nephew, Chad Lang (Tyler); special bond great nieces, ZaKiya and Zoey Brown, many other beloved nieces and nephews, and friends as close as brothers and sisters. A viewing and visitation will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.  Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. and be officiated by Pastor Jonathan Dundalow of Western Heights Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Virginia.  If you are a Washington football fan, Washington attire encouraged. Cremated remains to be laid to rest at a later date.
