Michael Moore Sr.

Michael J. "Mike" Moore Sr., 60, of Colonial Heights passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015. He was born on May 22, 1954 to the late William O. Moore Sr. and Margaret Lilley Moore and was preceded in death by a brother, Mark W. Lilley. Mike was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church, and retired after 42 years of service from DuPont. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joy W. Moore; son, Michael J. Moore Jr. of Colonial Heights; daughter, Rebecca M. McNew and husband, Robert S. McNew of Colonial Heights; son, Christopher W. Moore and Janette D. Keyser of Radford; his beloved granddaughter, Emma Neil McNew; brother, William O. Moore Jr. and wife, Karen; sister, Linda M. Blackman and husband, Webb; brother-in-law, C. Neil Wamsley Jr. and wife, Debbie; numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Ettrick United Methodist Church, 21302 Chesterfield Avenue, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Bob Lamb, the Reverend Jimmy Blankenship, and the Reverend Joe Whelan officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at church. In honor of Mike, there will be a bone marrow donor drive on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Optimist Club, 916 Meridian Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
