On Thursday, September 29, 2011, Michael "Mickey" Perkinson, 60, of Colonial Heights, suddenly passed into God's hands and joined his father, Jack Martin Sr., his sister, Carol Ann Ackerman and his grandmothers, Alma Jackson and Gracie Martin. Mickey was a graduate of Colonial Heights High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He lived in San Diego, California for over 10 years before returning to Colonial Heights. He was an avid sports fan and loved all animals. His most special companions were his three cats, Maggie, Misty and Dewey. He is survived by his mother, Iris Whelan Martin; sister, Jeannette Bowman; brothers, Jack Martin Jr. and wife, Shiryl, Jeff Martin and wife, Cathy; nieces, Jennifer Vaughan and husband, Dale and Christan Martin Karys and husband, Peter; nephew, Ryan Osterbind; great nephews, Hunter Vaughan, Aidan and Andrew Karys; uncles, Harry Whelan and wife, Barbara, Richard Martin and wife, Bernice and Douglas Martin; aunt, Joyce Wolford; many cousins, extended family, friends and neighbors. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831 with Fr. Lou Ruoff officiating. The family will have visitation from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
