51, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 after a courageous 14 year battle against breast cancer. Michele was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and the daughter of George Kelley (deceased) and Elizabeth Kelley. Michele was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all. Michele was a strong believer in service and achievement. She served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Sergeant. Among Michele's many other achievements was the attainment of numerous college degrees as a means of fulfilling her lifelong dream of teaching math at the post-secondary education level. Michele recently worked for J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and John Tyler Community College, teaching a range of mathematics courses. She truly enjoyed engaging with students. Michele also strongly believed in volunteerism. Her volunteer activities included fostering dogs for numerous rescue organizations, serving as an officer in the Sea Cadets, coaching youth soccer, leading Cub Scout packs, and tutoring math on the weekends for any students who needed assistance. Michele is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 31 years, Reginald Snell, daughter Nicole Snell, son Justin Snell and his wife Alicia, and mother Elizabeth Kelly. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 20, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights 23834 with the Reverend Doctor Silas Christian officiating. Following the service there will be a short visitation and reception at the family home from 3:30-5pm. Michele's final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
