Mildred Anne Pettus Harris, 93, of Colonial Heights, passed away, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Riverview on the Appomattox. She was born August 5, 1927 to the late Clarence E. and Lucille Pillow Pettus, and was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Harris. Mrs. Harris was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and a retired bookkeeper for the City of Petersburg Health and Welfare Department. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara H. and Douglas W. Ferguson of Prince George; a son, Donald Wayne Harris of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Neil R. Ferguson, Grant D. Ferguson, and Kristin Harris Matthews; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Leo; one cousin, Edward Pillow; and a niece, Hazel Welch McGehee. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Robert Breckenridge officiating. Her remains will rest from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
