Mildred Frances Mawyer

Mildred Frances Mawyer, 76, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on August 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher F. Mawyer, Sr. and Marie Fulford Mawyer. She was also preceded in death by her cherished aunt “momma” who raised her, Mary Thompson; brother, Thurman Mawyer, and her sister, Mary Quick.

Mildred was a longtime cherished member of The Heights Baptist Church, where her faith in God was shone brightly. She worked as a waitress for over 20 years and in the retail industry for over 15 years. Mildred represented the true essence of selflessness as she was always making sure everyone was taken care of. She was the anchor to her family and will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas B. Mawyer; her children, Sandi Peterson and husband, Steve, Michael Mawyer and wife, Heather, and Ashley Mawyer; her grandchildren, Jessica and Megan Peterson; grand-pup, Pixie; siblings, Fletcher Mawyer, Jr., Warren Mawyer, Shirley Bradley, and Lillian Saunders; and many other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at The Heights Baptist Church, 17201 Route 1, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
