Milton Earnest Blount, 84, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on May 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Dawson Newton and Leila Bell Blount and was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Fabian Blount; brothers, Grady, Wilbur, and Alvin Blount; sister, Louise Blount; and previous wives, Mildred H Blount, and Anna Marie Blount, and Ruth Blount of thirty eight years. Mr. Blount had a successful military career, first serving in the United States Air Force, where he toured in Korea from 1953-1954, and finally finishing his career with the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam from 1965-1966 and 1969-1970. He was an avid martial artist, as he earned a 6th degree black belt, and he also enjoyed shooting guns. Milton is survived by his son, Nicholas Gerard Blount, and wife, Deborah; grandchildren, Joshua Blount and Nikki Elrod and husband, Max; great grandchild, Jayce Elrod; step sons, Norbert Ewick and wife, Kelli and Roger Ewick; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved friend, Barbara Boatwright. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, with the Reverend David M. Prather officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
