Mona Wilson Haynes, a woman of great faith and kindness, peacefully passed from this life on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the age of 92. She lived a long and useful life, and is now joyfully reuniting with loved ones. Mona was born on April 15, 1917 in Hillsdale, Garfield County, Utah to Seth and Alta Morrill Wilson. She was raised in Tridell and Roosevelt in the Uintah Basin of Utah. She attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University, where she received her bachelor's degree. After graduation from college, Mona was employed as a secretary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. She served as a missionary in Kentucky and North Carolina from 1945-1946. On March 31, 1948, she married her eternal companion, Claude Pittman Haynes, in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their entire married life in Colonial Heights, Virginia, and were blessed with four children. Mona's life was one of devotion to her family and her faith. She served tirelessly in many church callings, and supported her husband in his, especially his calling as bishop for 22 years. After his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease, she lovingly cared for him at home for 11 years before his passing in 1988. In 1995, she moved to Orem, Utah to live with her daughter Kay's family. She is survived by her four children, Arthur Haynes, Kay (Joseph) Darowski, Hyrum (Vanda) Haynes, and Beth Haynes, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her nine siblings, Thella (Robert) Vowles, David (Carolyn) Wilson, and Gale (Carolu) Wilson. A funeral will held on Monday, November 23, 2009 in Orem, Utah. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia with Bishop Dallas Lauchner officiating .Mona will be interred beside her husband.
