Morris Wayne Vaughan Sr.

MORRIS WAYNE VAUGHAN, SR., 85, of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born and raised in the Dutch Gap area of Chester, VA, and was the son of the late Claude Edison and Alease Totty Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Bottoms Vaughan; brothers, Roy and Gene Vaughan, and sister Carolyn Hickman. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Morris “Wayne” Jr. and Tammy Pannill Vaughan of Chester, VA; grandsons Jesse (Mindy) and Chad (Laura) Vaughan; his beautiful great grandchildren, Caleb Lee, Grayson Alexander, Wyatt Jackson and Autumn Ann Vaughan; and his loyal companion of 20 years, Sachiko Hartsel. He is also survived by sister Mildred Morton and brother Jerry Vaughan; numerous nieces and nephews; and special devoted friends, Susan, Gregory, Clare, Sarah and Thomas Shriner of Williamsburg, VA; and Crystal Poole of Amelia, VA. A mechanic by trade, Morris enjoyed hot rods, boating on the James and Rappahannock Rivers, cruising around the neighborhood and Greys Point Camp on his golf cart and sipping on a good bourbon. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, at 1:00 p.m. at the mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
