Myrtle Dowdy

Myrtle Virginia Palmore Dowdy, 89, of South Chesterfield passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Sterling T. Reekes Sr. and Annie Moore Reekes. She was the widow of James H. Palmore Jr. and Richard S. Dowdy. Mrs. Dowdy was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church and the Happy Woodpeckers Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Stevenson; sons, James H. Palmore III and wife, Donna, and Gary W. Palmore; grandchildren Jason K. Wade, Joseph L. Palmore; great grandchildren Brian Palmore, Courtney Palmore and Carley Palmore; sisters Barbara Lang and sister in-law Alma Reekes. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2015 at the Colonial heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Sandra Collins officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
