Myrtle B. Williams, 91, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011 at her residence. Born in Union County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Wilma Braswell Bivens, and the widow of Charles C. (Buck) Williams Jr. She was a 1938 graduate of the Appalachian State University, formerly Appalachian State Teachers College, where she taught in a one room schoolhouse in Waxhaw, North Carolina for eight years, and a former employee of Seward Luggage, Petersburg. Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Wayne Williams and wife, Wanda of Colonial Heights; a granddaughter, Lynne Cooper of Glen Allen; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Travis Cooper of Glen Allen; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 13, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Dr. Steve Felker officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
