Myrtle B. Orcutt, 96, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away Friday morning, June 24, 2022. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on September 14, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas B. Belcher and Lillie S. Belcher; her brother, John T. Belcher Sr.; sisters, Gladys B. Merten and Irene B. Palmer. Myrtle was also preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Bish and her third husband, Earl Orcutt.
Myrtle retired from Allied Chemical/Honeywell, Chesterfield Plant, after a lengthy career as a lab technician. When she reached her time for retirement she did not hesitate.
Two loving sons survive her. The oldest is Ronald E. Bish (Brenda), his two daughters, Tammy (Dakota and Shawn) and Jessica (Desiree, Derrick, Dominic, Bristol, Memphis, and Austin). Her youngest son is Donald F. Bish (Tara) and their two daughters; the oldest daughter, Heather (Tim) and her two daughters, Aubree and Avery, and the youngest daughter, Tiffany (Matt). Myrtle enjoyed her granddaughters and great-granddaughters when she was with them. She enjoyed when the family got together for cookouts, parties, and holidays.
Myrtle enjoyed traveling with her retired friends on bus trips. She loved going to the casinos in Atlantic City and Charles Town, West Virginia. She was not afraid to drive to these if a bus was not going. She traveled with Ronnie on a few trips, but she did not want to be away from home more than two nights, even if Donnie was watching her house. Myrtle’s favorite past time was bingo. She knew where every bingo hall was and had many bingo friends. Both of her sons learned at an early age to play bingo. Myrtle had a good long life, but her sons wished she would have traveled more.
