Nadine Vaughan Wallace, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. She was born July 27, 1918 in Dinwiddie County, to Lyle Blandford and Emily Williams Elder. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 38 years, Leslie O. Vaughan; a sister, Eunice Elder Harrell, and a brother, Clyde E. Elder. Mrs. Wallace's survivors include her devoted husband, John G. Wallace; daughter, Jean V. Morris (Wayne) of Crozier; son, Donald R. Vaughan (Virginia) of Colonial Heights; stepson, Roy Wallace (Jacque) of Chester; grandsons, Bryan Morris (Michelle) of Powhatan, and Darryl Morris (Carrie) of Glen Allen; and three great-grandchildren, Madysen, Zachary and Savannah Morris of Powhatan. The epitome of Southern charm, truly a steel magnolia, she was capable of bearing good times and bad with equal grace and dignity. She loved her family and local community, always preferring home and hearth above all else. No one was a better cook than she. Though she no longer walks among us on Earth, her generous and gentle spirit lives on forever in our hearts. A graveside service will take place Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Rev. Dr. John P. Mason officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
