Nancy Sadler Church, 78, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024. Born in Petersburg, VA, on July 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Lee Sadler and Minerva Lundie Sadler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Benton Church, Sr.; her brothers, Bernard Sadler, Jr., Jimmy Sadler, Gerald Sadler (Jewel), and Buck Sadler (Duckie); and her sisters, Kathleen Puckett (Aubrey), Rena Burton (Stuart), Joyce Hutchinson, Zelda Johnson, and Patsy Moore (Donald).
Nancy proudly worked for Colonial Heights Middle School as a cafeteria worker, retiring in 2019 after many dedicated years. Outside of work, Nancy found joy in homemaking, from canning and grocery shopping to tending to her home. She also loved collecting knickknacks, visiting her brothers and sisters, and cherished her time watching television.
She is survived by her sons, James “Jim” Benton Church, Jr. and Michael Paul Church; brothers-in-law, Frank Johnson and Michael Hutchinson; and a numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the funeral home.
