Nellie Newman

Nellie W. Newman, 86, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Linwood and Mary Wright on February 29, 1932. Mrs. Newman was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and a retired worker for American Filtrona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Newman. She is survived by her sons, David M. Clary (Betty) of Colonial Heights, and Timothy Lee Clary (Debra) of Chester; grandchildren, Danny Lee Clary (Leigh), Sabrina Lea Clary, Annette Dobbs (Matt), and Lee Clary (Brianna); great-grandchildren, Harper Dobbs, and Travis and Shelton Clary; sister, Rose Entrekin of Molena, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Terri Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
