Nellie Sowder

Nell W. Sowder, 90, of Manson North Carolina formerly of Colonial Heights passed away October 13, 2013. She was born February 9, 1923 in Pitt County North Carolina to the late William Marcellus Windham and Vernice Katherine Bibbs Windham and was the widow of Harry D. Sowder. Mrs. Sowder was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284. Mrs. Sowder retired from Allied Chemical after 29 years of service. She leaves behind four daughters Linda W. Jackson and husband Danny of Manson North Carolina, Barbara W. Adams of Greensboro North Carolina, Kathy W. Smyth of Kenbridge, and Susan W. Hall of Colonial Heights, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister Margaret Hardee, brothers Gene Windham, J. M. Windham. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 16, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. Dorothy O'Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park Chesterfield County, Virginia.
