Norman B. Stanley, 81, of Chesterfield, formerly of Iselin, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Dunlop House. Mr. Stanley was a veteran in the United States Navy having served during the Korean War. He attended St. Ann Catholic Church, was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284, the Colonial Heights 40 & 8 Voiture #1530, a Past Commander and First All State Commander of the VFW Post #2636 in Iselin, New Jersey, he retired from Western Electric with 33 years of service, and most recently Pinkerton Security. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene B. Stanley; their children, Norman B. Stanley Jr. of Sayreville, New Jersey, Kenneth D. Stanley and wife, Susan of Chesterfield, Lori S. Sustak and husband, Dave of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and Kathy S. Kettyle and husband, Rich of Chesterfield; eight grandchildren, Keith Stanley and wife, Rachel of Richmond, Geoff Stanley and wife, Pauline of Richmond, Becky Sustak of Providence, Rhode Island, Rachel Ashton and husband, Ben of Nazareth, Robin Sustak of Bowie, Maryland, Brett Kettyle of Chesterfield, Krista Kettyle of Chesterfield, and Norman B. Stanley III of Sayreville; one great-grandson, Elliott Cullum of Chesterfield; a brother, Roy Stanley and wife, Rusty of South Bend, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Fr. Lou Ruoff, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with an American Legion service beginning at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 or to St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
