Odell Phillips, 86, of Dinwiddie, Virginia passed away peacefully in his home on January 30, 2010, with his beloved wife Pearl, of 66 years by his side. He was born in North Carolina and was the son of the late Wiley and Alma Phillips. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Steven O. Phillips Jr. He is survived by his wife Pearl T. Phillips, a daughter Jeane P. Shell of Dinwiddie, Virginia, and a son Steven O. Phillips and wife Carol of Orange, Virginia; his four grandchildren Roger L. Shell IV of Dinwiddie, Virginia, Jennifer S. Geldhof and husband, Adam of Bethesda, Maryland, Brandy M. Phillips of Dinwiddie, Virginia, and Lindsay J. Phillips of Chester, Virginia; two great-grandchildren Tyler B. Shell and Brayden I. Webb both of Dinwiddie, Virginia, two sisters Gertrude P. Statts and Betty P. Thomas both of Randelman, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Wednesday, February 3 at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Larry Murray officiating in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 3935 South Crater Road. Burial will be at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30pm at the funeral home. The family will be at Oak Grove Methodist Church, Halifax Road immediately following the funeral. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Harvest Baptist Church, Prince George, Virginia.
