Olive T. Barnes, 97, of Dinwiddie, passed away Saturday February 8, 2013 at the Dinwiddie Health & Rehabilitation Care Center. She was born October 12, 1916 to the late James A. and Annie James Callis Thompson and was preceded in death by her husband Travis Y. Barnes, two sisters Ruth Wells, Laura Love, and a brother Robert "Doc" Thompson. Ms. Barnes was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church in Dinwiddie. She is survived by her daughter Anne Shell and husband Bruce of Dinwiddie, two grandsons Colton Shell and wife Stacey, of Dinwiddie, Doug Stell and wife Mindy, of Dinwiddie, three great-granddaughters Michaela Ann Shell, Maggie D. Stell and Madison J. Shell all of Dinwiddie, two sisters Eunice Brockwell and husband John of Colonial Heights, Ann Thompson of Hampton, sister in-law Irene C. Barnes of Colonial Heights, and her extended family at the Dinwiddie Health Care where she has been a resident for the past five years and her special care giver Nancy Jones of Dewitt. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 11, 2014 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery 18591 Concord-Sappony Road Stony Creek, Virginia 23882 with the Reverend Thomas F. Lester officiating. The family will receive friends at the family residence, Monday February 10, 2014. Ms. Barnes remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
