Ora Owens

Ora Mae Harrell Owens, 91, of Colonial Heights, departed this life Monday, February 16, 2015. She was born January 7, 1924 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to the late Ernest G. and Mary E. Cummings Harrell. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Benjamin Curtis Owens; and a brother, Albert Harrell. She was a member of the Assembly of God Life Church, Colonial Heights. Mrs. Owens was a devoted Christian whose love for her Lord was expressed and lived daily. She is survived by a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Owens and wife, Trisha; a daughter, Jo Carol Owens Staples and husband, Ronnie; granddaughters; Tammy Carwile and husband, David, Wendy Myers and husband, Bill, Jennifer Lausier and husband, Chad, and Anita Reid and husband, Brent; grandson, Rick Owens; great-granddaughters, Ashley & Christy Carwile and Melanie & MacKenzie Myers; sister, Madeline Gardner; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished friend, Glenice Archer. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Bill Myers officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
