Oren Walter Carter, Jr. 59 of Colonial Heights passed away, on Monday, December 29, 2008. He was born in Martinsville; and was the son of the late Oren Walter Sr. and Ruth Evans Carter. He has been the owner, of Carter Heating and Air Conditioning in Petersburg, for 28 years, and a Navy veteran who served during the Viet Nam war. Walter was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and was an ordained deacon. Walter's life was devoted to his God, family, and friends. Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Tench Carter; daughters and sons-in-laws Jennifer Carter Whirley and H. Scott Whirley III, and Melissa Carter Agnew and Michael E, Angew; his grandson and best little buddy Benjamin Scott Whirley; special friend Charles Blaha; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beverly and Garland Hudson; niece, Stephanie Gruss, nephew, Eric Mayes, great nieces, Helena Gruss and Zoe Mayes. The number of lives Walter touched were numerous, and the love that surrounded him was infinite. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 3, 2009 in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia with the Reverend Dr. Jeff Ginn officiating, Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
