Oscar Sale Jr., 89, of Dinwiddie, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He was a native of Amherst County and the son of the late Oscar Myers Sale Sr., and Nettie Lois Stinnett Sale. Mr. Sale was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Thelma G. Sale, two brothers, Oleon and Roy Sales; one sister, Margaret Hendricks. Mr. Sale was a WW II United States Army Veteran, and retired after 50 years from Burton P. Short Paving Company. Mr. Sale was a long time member of Midway Baptist Church in Amherst, Virginia, Eagles, American Legion, and the Last Chance Hunt Club. Mr. Sale was an avid gardener and shared his garden with everyone and his many good neighbors. He loved hunting, fishing and his three faithful companions, Betsy, Jack and Peanut. His family meant everything to him. Survivors include a son, Phillip M. Sale and wife, Brenda of Richmond; two daughters, Bonnie S. Lewis and husband, Robert of Hanover, Sandie S. Rowe of Dewitt; Wayne and Dorothy Gordon and Children; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Becky and Randy Cooper, Jeremiah and Jordan; Stephanie Rowe, Anna and Zane; Bobby and Melanie Lewis and Kaitlyn; Jennifer and Eddie Wilber, Craig and Samantha; Joshua and Misty Lewis, Bethany, Anna, and Abigail; Clinton and Amy Lewis and Caden; Amanda Lewis; Adam and Tabitha Sale, Memphis, Trinity and Savanah; PJ Gaines, Jason and Jenna; Scott Sale and Trevor; a sister Jean Gardner of Madison Heights.. A funeral service will be held 1: 00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Joshua S. Lewis and Francis K. Wimmer officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
