Patricia Ann Barclay

Patricia Ann Barclay, 82, of Chester, VA, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was born in Clarksburg, WV on October 20, 1941. 

Pat was an active member of Matoaca United Methodist Church and the Richmond Emmaus Community. She was well-known in the community as a Bridal Consultant for Leggett for many years. Pat was a champion for service to others and would often volunteer at area food banks and soup kitchens. She volunteered holding many offices with the League for Service in Grafton, WV. What she enjoyed most was time with her family. 

“Pat”, “Mom”, “Patty”, “Grandmaw” or “Maw”, depending on how you knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Linger; mother, Beatrice Linger; and her sisters Sharon Nicholson and Jeanie Harmon. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, LTC Robert P. Barclay; brothers , Richard Linger and Joseph Linger; sister, Kay Nichols; daughter, Jennifer Passaro; son-in-law, Nicholas T. Passaro; granddaughter, Meredith A. Lively; son, Eric Kevin Matheny; daughter-in-law, Theresa Matheny; granddaughter, Ericha R. Pratt; grandson, Robert C. Matheny; grandson, Brandon C. Matheny; and several great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Reverend Alan Layman officiating. Interment will follow after the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, VA 23002. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the funeral home.
