Patricia Birdsong

Patricia Vaiden Birdsong, 73, of Richmond, formerly of Petersburg, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ernest G. and Ruby Dempsey Vaiden. Patricia was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church, Richmond, a 1958 graduate of Johnston Willis Nursing School, and a retired Registered Nurse. She is survived by her husband, Sterling O. Birdsong; a daughter, Jo Anna Hughes and husband, Billy of Charlotte, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Brittany Sage; and a sister, Ruth E. Vaiden of Glen Allen. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with the Reverend Travis Collins, the Reverend Norman Burns, and the Reverend Ron Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (tonight) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
