Patricia Shumate Elmore 66, of Midlothian, and formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday December 26, 2014 at Johnston Willis Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1948, to the late Raymond Delmer Shumate and the Fannie Bish Shumate, and was preceded in death by her husband Gary A. Elmore, a daughter Dana Elmore, and a brother Delmer Jackson Shumate. Ms. Elmore was a member of Bethia United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. She is survived by two sons, Raymond "Monk" Elmore and wife Cara R. Elmore, and Reverend R. Jason Elmore and wife Christy P. Elmore, five grandchildren, William A. Elmore, Brooke A. Elmore, Reese M. Elmore, Kenley R. Elmore, and Hope J. Elmore, two sisters; Rosemary Shumate Corrington, Helena Shumate Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday January 2, 2015 in Bethia United Methodist Church 10700 Winterpock Road Chesterfield, Virginia 23832 with the Reverend R. Jason Elmore and the Reverend James H. (Jay) Carey, Jr., officiating. Private Interment will be held in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, North Carolina, 27513 or to Bethia United Methodist Church Building fund.
