Patricia Kennedy

Pat Kennedy passed away on April 19, 2021. Born on May 8, 1944 in Louisiana, she was predeceased by her parents, LTC (USAF Ret.) Gerald A. and Zennia J. Francis Berry, and by her brother, LTC (USA Ret.) Tommie Joe Berry. Pat is survived by three brothers and their wives: Jerry and Linda Berry, LTC (USA Ret.) Gerald J. and Elizabeth Berry, and COL (USA Ret.) Michael Berry and Jean Smith, MD., and Tommie Joe’s widow, Mary Berry, as well as many well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pat graduated from Prince George High School, Richmond Professional Institute, and Longwood University. She taught the love of music to students for 35 years in Colonial Heights and King William County, VA, until her retirement in 2002. Pat remained very active in the education field serving through the Virginia Retired Education Association with her best friend, Debbie Jessie.

Pat was Christian by faith and decision, and an active member of Western Heights Baptist Church’s voice choir, hand bell choirs, and several committees. She served with the Lions Club of Colonial Heights, most recently as Treasurer, several decades in the Civil Air Patrol Virginia Wing, specializing in Air Search and Rescue, and made many friends volunteering through the Food Bank of Virginia in Dinwiddie.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with Rev. Jonathon Dundalow officiating.
