Patricia Beaman Tyler

Patricia “Granny Pat” Tyler, 80, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Born on April 24, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie H. and Minnie Mae Lane Beaman, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Richard Tyler.

For over a decade, Patricia dedicated herself to ensuring the safety of the students at Tussing Elementary School as the Crossing Guard for the Colonial Heights Police Department. Her unwavering commitment to her role went beyond merely directing traffic; Patricia became a familiar and reassuring presence for both parents and children in the Colonial Heights community. Rain or shine, she stood at her post, diligently assisting young students in navigating the crosswalks and busy intersections, fostering a sense of security and trust among the school community.

She is survived by her sons, Dean, Mike, and Phillip;  granddaughters, Ashley Crist (Matthew), Haley Tyler, Casey Tyler, Jordan Tyler, Sidney Tyler, and Kayla Laughlin; grandson, Ryan Laughlin; great-granddaughter, Maryn; sister, Jean Gardner (Bobby); and other extended family members.
