Patsy Moore

June 12, 1942 — December 2, 2022

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Patsy Ann Sadler Moore, 80, peacefully passed in her sleep into the presence of Jesus. Patsy was born at home in Colonial Heights, VA to Bernard and Minervia Sadler in 1942.

She is preceded in death by her beloved Donald Earl Moore, her parents, her brothers, Bernard Sadler Jr., Jimmy Sadler, Gerald Sadler (Jewel) and Buck Sadler (Duckie) and her sisters, Kathleen Puckett (Aubrey), Rena Burton (Stuart), Joyce Hutchinson and Zelda Johnson. She is survived by their daughter, Valarie Moore Squerciati (John); granddaughters, Paula and Gabriela; her sister, Nancy Church; her sister-in-law, Dianne Moore; her brothers-in-law, Michael Hutchinson and Frank Johnson, as well as more than 50 nieces and nephews, her lifelong friends, co-workers, neighbors and camping buddies.

Donald and Patsy met in 1957 at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Colonial Heights when Patsy was 15 years old. They dated and eventually eloped to Dillon, SC in 1961 and honeymooned in Myrtle Beach.

Patsy graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 1960. After high school, she worked at VEPCO (now Dominion Energy) as a clerk typist. She retired from the power company and after many years as a homemaker, went back to work as the jewelry manager at Walmart in Colonial Heights.

Donald and Patsy spent their lives surrounded by their extensive family often. Many weekends saw the entire family gathered for a cookout, volleyball and a card game of setback. On any given Wednesday night for many years, they could be found at The Optimist Club ... Donald working and Patsy playing BINGO! Her love of Bingo never stopped.

Later in life, they loved traveling together in their motor home especially to Chesapeake, VA where Patsy loved going to the pool, playing card and board games, and laughing with dear friends. They also spent many summer vacations camping in Myrtle Beach, SC where Patsy enjoyed every moment she could on the beach.

Patsy adored her two granddaughters and was excited to live near them in the Herndon, VA area the last three years of her life. Whether she was known as Mom, Grandma Patty, Aunt Pattycake, Mama Moore, or Patsy, she will be remembered as a lovely, sacrificial lady who truly “spent” her life caring for everyone around her.
