Paul James 88, of N. Dinwiddie, devoted husband and father, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Carter C. and Edna Leva James and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorine L. James. Mr. James was retired MSGT after 20 years from the United States Army, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and then went on to retire from civil service after 20 years. He loved baseball, football and just any other sports. He is survived by three daughters, Nita Mayer of N. Dinwiddie, Paula Everett of South Carolina, Bonnie Clapham of Colorado; a son, Paul E. James of Richmond; four grandchildren, Kim Schmidt and husband, Cory, Steve Mayer and wife, Tiffany, Shannon Perry and husband; James and Lamar Clapham and wife, Audra; six great-grandchildren, Erik Warner, Sydney Perry, Cole Schmidt, Colton, Kaiden and Kayla Clapham; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. Arrangements by the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Disabled Americans Veterans fund in his honor.
