Paul Smith

Paul Richard Smith, 81, of Petersburg, formerly of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Paul was a native of Martinsville, Virginia, and the son of the late Peter D. and Sarah E. Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marion C. Smith; a brother, Thomas Smith; and two sisters, Ruby Small and Elizabeth Whetzel. Paul was a member of Monumental Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Louis C. Smith and wife, Sherrie of Petersburg; grandson, Justin C. Smith of Henrico; and a nephew, David Whetzel and wife, Sharon of Roanoke. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805, with Pastor Duane Guridy officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday (tonight), October 25, 2018 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S.
