Paula Williams

Paula W. Williams, 88, a resident of Reflections of Petersburg from May 2007 until her passing on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Born June 30, 1923 in Gernsbach, Germany to the late Rudolph and Matilda Wunsch, Mrs. Williams was a World War II bride marrying Connie S. Williams on November 15, 1947, where two weddings were held in one day, one in Germany and one on a USA Army base. They were married for 54 years until his passing on February 8, 2001. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Williams. Paula loved baking and making jams when it was too cold for her to be working out in her many gardens, with all her pretty babies as she called them. She loved to knit, crochet, and cross-stitch - anything she could do with her hands. In the summertime her favorite thing was for her and "Daddy" to get everything in the camper and go off to Emerald Isle for the week. And who could ever forget going to the house, enjoying coffee, and playing a hand of cards while talking about everything. She is survived by three children, Mary Lou Whirley and husband, Richard, Esther Ogburn and husband, James, and Michael Williams and wife, Gloria; four grandchildren, Christine, Richard Jr. and Jennifer Whirley, and James "Ned" Ogburn; five great-grandchildren, Staci, Tiara, Harley, Cheyenne, and Neil; one sister living in Germany, Gabriella Lang and husband, Reinhold; two nieces and their families; multiple in-laws, Shirley and Willie Willoughby and their family, Elizabeth Martin and family, Roy and Fay Emory and family, Mary Francis Emory and family, Elsie Emory and Karen Emory. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
