Peggy Marlene Ross, 85, of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She was born September 25, 1930 in Albemarle, North Carolina to the late Will Lee and Lilla Florence Coley Vanderburg, and was also preceded in death by two husbands, William Bryant Cates and Victor Ross; two sons, Calvin and Timothy "Tim" Cates: and four brothers. She worked for Titmus Optical and retired from Reynold Metals after many years of service. Miss Peggy was a true North Carolina girl who would tell all that she never liked shoes as she was a born TARHEEL. She was a lover of nature especially flowers and birds, one bird in particular, her little Girl and faithful companion Blossom. The two of them enjoyed their daily visits with the girls at 2100 Dunlop as Miss. Peggy so often spoke of. She is survived by her daughter, Linda C. Williams and husband, Toby; a son, Alan Cates and wife, Cheri; five grandchildren, Tobey, Crystal and husband, Neal, Lucas, Chip, Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Madison. At Miss Peggy's request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter P.O.
