Petko "Pete" Kolev, 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. He escaped communist Bulgaria in 1950 and later joined the U.S. Army in Germany. While in Germany he met the love of his life, wife Anna Kolev, and they were married for 60 years. His military career included a tour in Vietnam, and he retired as a Master Sergeant. He also retired from the Capital Police after 18 years. Mr. Kolev attended St. Ann's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Kiza and Stojan Kolev; three brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Anna Kolev; daughters, Elke L. Jones (Craig) of Colonial Heights, and Nancy S. Sullivan (Thomas) of Midlothian; son, Steven P. Kolev of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Jonathan Jones, Christine, Allison, and David Sullivan, Jaclyn Brown, and Victoria and Madison Kolev; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Benjamin Davis.
