Philip N. Joyner, 79, of Chester, VA passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at his residence. Born in Chesterfield, VA he was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Clark Andrews and husband, Calvin; his father, Rupert N. Joyner; one brother, Willard Andrews; and a brother-in-law, James Aldridge. Mr. Joyner retired from Reynolds Metals and was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda "Diane" H. Joyner; two sisters, Mildred Aldridge and Virginia "Bootsie" Andrews; one brother, Robert "Doodie" Andrews and wife, Sherran; four sisters-in-law, Ruby Andrews, Mildred Thompson and husband, Marshall, Priscilla Houston and Gloria Moore; his loving cat, Pepper; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Adam Garton, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Philip.
