Phyllis May Bowman, 90, of Matoaca died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. She was born in Norwich, England, and was the daughter of the late George and Anna May Russell Latimer. Mrs. Bowman was a British Army Veteran having served during World War II. She was a member of The Food Service Association, and retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools. Mrs. Bowman was a member of Matoaca United Methodist Church, and was a volunteer for Southside Regional Medical Center for over twenty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bowman; son, Stephen Bowman; and a brother, Steve Latimer. She is survived by a daughter, Susan B. Daniels and husband, Ronald E.; daughter-in-law, Margaret B. Bowman; also five grandchildren, Robert T. Bowman (Heather), Pamela C. Murphy (Jamie), Nicole A. Kosmas, Jennifer L. Bowman, and Dawn M. Spicer (Jeremy); and ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Anthony M. Latimer and sister-in-law, Elizabeth; special nephews, J.T. and Sean. A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Pastor James P. Murphy officiating. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
