Pilar Lopez De Breceny, affectionately known as Pilar, Frenchie, and Nikki, passed away on March 10, 2014 at her home in Petersburg, Virginia. She was born in Crouzilles, France on December 30, 1932, daughter of Joaquin and Rosalia Lopez. She has been the loving and devoted wife to Michael A. De Breceny since December 11, 1965. She was predeceased by her parents, and three siblings. Pilar and Mike have one daughter, Chantal P. De Breceny, and one granddaughter, Tessa L. Reed. In addition, she is also survived by her brothers, Henri and Seraphin; a sister, Keta all residing in France. Pilar worked for AAFES at Fort Lee for over 21 years touching many with her special joy and spirit for life and love. She enjoyed engaging in new adventures, traveling, learning and reading - speaking three languages and engaging all she met in conversations, she never knew a stranger. Her Christian faith guided her actions and life. She was an active member of the Catholic community and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church. Her generous and helpful way impacted many, she always prayed and reached out to those in need however she could, and gave of herself without hesitation. Though her spirit remains in all of us, Pilar will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a very proud, devoted and loving mother, grandmother and wife. A special thanks to Debbie Barden for all her love and incredible care. Also a special thanks to Joyce Lynch and Hospice of Virginia for their wonderful support. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to VCU Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 843042, Richmond, Virginia 23284. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
