Priscilla “Sissy” Hargrave Yencha, 80, passed away peacefully at her Colonial Heights, VA, home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was born in Petersburg on April 30, 1941, to the late Willard J. and Olevia S. Hargrave. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 59 years, Thomas J. Yencha; daughter, Maria T. Yencha and her fiancé, Ronald E. Brown, Jr.; sister, Saundra H. Davis and husband, Ricky; brother, James M. Hargrave and wife, Brenda, all of Colonial Heights; and numerous other relatives and dear friends. Priscilla graduated from Petersburg High School in 1958. Although she was employed with J. S. Ritchie Feed & Seed Company in Petersburg, VA, and the Sears Corporation in Wyoming Valley, PA, she was happiest being a housewife and stay-at-home mom. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church for 53 years, including membership in the Catholic Daughters and Altar and Arts. Priscilla and Tom loved to travel, and she did--to all 50 states. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she was truly a blessing to them. She was a wonderful listener and always offered encouragement to others. Those who knew her will miss her amazing smile, kindness, generosity, hospitality and selflessness. A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Visitation will be held in the Chapel prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. There will be a reception (and further visitation) immediately following the Mass in St. Ann’s Condon Hall. Interment will be at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:00 PM. Priscilla's family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the loving care they provided. There truly are no words to express gratitude to her many nurses and aide especially Sharina, Lindsey, Elizabeth, Rasheda, Brittany and Stephanie. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060 (www.alz.org).
