Rachel Hamner

Rachel Claytor Hamner, 91, of Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Blanche Vernie Claytor, and was preceded in death by a brother, Richard John Claytor, and a sister, Katherine Fable. Mrs. Hamner was a retired Secretary with Little Oil Company. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence C. "Nubby" Hamner Jr.; a son, Lawrence C. Hamner III of Colonial Heights; two grandsons, Lawrence Clifton Hamner IV of Dinwiddie and Nicholas James Hamner of Colonial Heights; and a nephew, Richard John Claytor. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Jimmy Taylor and the Reverend Joyce Vargo officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
