Rachel W. Jackson, 83, of Matoaca, Virginia, went to sleep in death on Monday, April 17, 2017. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harvey N. Jackson, Jr.; her parents, Preston McCoy and Virgie Mary Wall; a sister, Martha Ann Talbott, and a nephew, John Talbott. Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughters, Melody Frazier and Laura Lee Selden; two granddaughters, Amy Masterson (Terry) and Bobbie Jo Tanner; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Savannah, Emily, Rachel, and Terry; a niece, Amanda Talbott Veilleux, numerous other friends; and her beloved cat Camo. Mrs. Jackson, while primarily a homemaker, worked in her youth at various local businesses, including: Universal CIT and Charles Leonard Hardware. Friends and family remember Rachel's dry wit and excellent sense of humor. She was the caregiver of the family, the bedrock. She took care of the elderly and infirm in the family. She was a special gift to the elderly she met in ministry work. Two of her favorite scriptures were: Rev. Chapter 21, verses 3-4: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look the tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people and God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be any more. The former things have passed away. From the time she was a young woman, she would visit older people regularly. Even as she grew older, she looked forward to any time she could spend time helping others. In addition, Rachel loved animals and took great pleasure in watching the hummingbirds and goldfinches at feeders in the yard. Mrs. Jackson will be deeply and forever missed.
