Rachel Walker

Rachel S. Walker of Chester, formerly of Colonial Heights, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born on April 27, 1924, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Norman. Rachel was a lifelong, as well as a founding member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She is survived by her son, Larry Walker (Judy) of Chester; two grandsons, Steven Walker (Rachel) of Mechanicsville and Scotty Walker (Jennifer) of Chester; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the nursing staffs at the Crossings at Ironbridge and Lucy Corr Village for the loving care they provided. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Andy Brockelman officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Community Care, 10128 West Broad Street, Suite J, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060 or to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
