August 6, 1942 — July 5, 2015

Randel Dean Garner Sr., 72, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born in Hartville, Missouri, he was the son of the late Monroe H. and Marie Gregory Garner. Mr. Garner was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Garner and a sister, Barbara Sue Garner. He was a member and Deacon of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Richmond. He was the proprietor of Petersburg Mattress & Upholstery Company for 33 years, a veteran with the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart, and was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Spainhour Garner; two sons, Randel Jr. (Randy) Garner and wife, Kim of Prince George and Robert (Dwayne) Garner and wife, Billie of Colonial Heights; two grandchildren, Kailey and Hunter Garner; two brothers, Bob Garner and wife, Elma of Missouri and Russ Garner and wife, Melva of Oklahoma; two special nieces, Donis Ewing and husband, Steve & family and Kristina Garner-Hottes & family all of Missouri; two brothers-in-law, William D. Spainhour and wife, Shelia & family and Ray Spainhour and wife, Doris & family; and a sister-in-law, Liz Fedon and husband, Bob. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Elder Barnabas Brammer officiating. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
