Ray Gryder

Ray Garland "Sonny" Gryder, 73, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Charlotte County, he was the son of the late Lester E. and Ethel Duffer Gryder. Mr. Gryder retired after 30 years of service with the Defense Supply Center Richmond (Bellwood). He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Osborne Gryder; three sons, Ray G. Gryder II and wife, Kimberly of Mechanicsville, Eric "Randy" Gryder and wife, Christal Dawn of Chester; Ryan K. Gryder of Richmond; five grandchildren, Gabriel, Liam, Carter, Caroline and Claire; and a brother, Donald Gene Gryder and wife, Lana of Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with the Reverends Robert Livesay III and Gregory Ott officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery, Keysville, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
