Raymond L. Johnson, 85, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on January 27, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Hicksville, Ohio he was the son of the late, Freeman L. Johnson and Juanita M. Webb; and was also preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Lillian "Nina" L. Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of James River Black Powder Club, and was a volunteer at the Colonial Heights Food Pantry. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Johnson loved Civil War history, sharing his knowledge with others and relic hunting for many years. He was a compassionate loving, father, husband, and grandfather. Mr. Johnson is survived by a son, Steven L. Johnson; one daughter, Juanita L. Mane; a granddaughter, Ashlie Dillon Faulkner and husband Corey; great-grandsons, Adrian Tracy, Michael Golding, Ivan Faulkner and Killian Faulkner; brothers, Jim Johnson and wife, Janet, Glenn Johnson and wife, Mary, Wayne and Herbert Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, VA. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the funeral home.
